About

Julie Pusch is a Los Angeles based composer, musician, actor, and teacher.

Julie’s musical endeavors have taken her all over the world, providing a rich cultural background to draw her inspiration from.  A versatile violinist, violist, vocalist, and composer, she combines her classical training with her experience in improvisation and performance to develop her sound. She has composed for and performed with Los Angeles-based dance companies Ledges and Bones and MAKedance. Julie co-founded The Skirt and the Tie, and The Oopsadaisies; and performs with String Theory Harp, as well as her string quartet.

In 2015, Julie gave a TEDxTalk, Embracing the Uncertainty, a performance and discussion of improvisation.

Julie has performed with Solomon Burke, Marco Antonio Solis, Alt-J, Ebi, Deltron 3030, Charlie Louvin, Shadmehr Aghili, String Theory Harp, David Poe, Cousin Lovers, Suzanne Slair, The Big Wu, Sandra Piller, and Shannon Rae. She has recorded for Matthew Sweet and Suzanna Hoffs, Micah Nelson, Aaradhna, and can be heard on the soundtracks to The Green Lantern the Animated Series, The Tom and Jerry Show, HBO’s Project Greenlight, The Leisure Class, Population 436, Hellraiser: Revelations, American Revolutionary: The Evolution of Grace Lee Boggs. She performed the lead role of Masha, a violinist, in the short film Search for the Global Song. She can also be seen in the music video Aviation, by the Last Shadow Puppets, and in the feature film, The Leisure Class. She composed music for the film Chez Moi.

Julie released an album with her duo, The Oopsadaisies. Funny Box, which Julie co-produced with Emmy-winner Vivek Maddala, was released in January 2017.

Julie believes that music is a healing power that extends from the soul, and has dedicated her life to developing and sharing it.
